Evaluating the visual comfort of Orosi windows in hot and semi-arid climates through climate-based daylight metrics: a quantitative study

Proper design and appropriate configuration of daylight systems, as the primary means controlling distributing daylight, greatly improve visual comfort reduce energy consumption. Daylight systems are widely used around world, light distribution in interior spaces; residential buildings, vertical windows most common ones. Iranian architecture has been using a traditional system for over centuries: Orosi window. This research investigates how elements affect comfort, based on climate-based metrics. Results show that tinted glasses have potential to control quality is transmitted into space. Besides, frames increase UDI while keeping overall illuminance space within specific range. Furthermore, glass shapes, consequently frame way they scattered surface enters space; therefore, homogenize it by decreasing differences between central, frontal, side zones
